Writing New Pages.....

"The month of January rolls around
Like clock work it appears
I find it's timing most profound
as it brings us each new year
Right on time, It's never late
Has never ever blown it
apparently this wise old date
refuses to postpone it
Drink a toast to January
For annual consistence
It's coming means the old year's done
Let's drink to it's persistence"...
Stanley cooper
New year 1926.

I'm going to try and embrace, January
 with open arms...
After all the' razzmatazz' and sparkle
 of Christmas..
It feels good to enter the new....
Write new pages, so to speak..

I've embraced  my new year again with tradition...
Some thing I started a little while ago in
My gratitude Diary.

It's a little musing of quotes, ideas, and dreams...
but most importantly
 gratitude for the new year!
Writing down words and feelings helps
 keep me grounded almost
 and truly aware of
what's most important in the here and now of things...

I know I'm not alone..
We all keep a journal  of sorts, by just being on here...
A glimpse into our own worlds
in meaningful words and pretty pictures...
By my bedside my gratitude diary is...
for all to see...
I've never been a secretive one...
Musings of this and that...
Happy days, sad days, but most of all glad days...
Inspiration I pick up from who knows where..
It's all in here...

Mr Rosey Tinted Spectacles
has running magazines by the plenty,
 at his bedside...
~ His grounding too, I believe....

I've been reading each evening at bed time, this wonderful read..

A tale of folk lore, mystery and romance and even horror!
It's beautifully written words have stayed with me through the night and my dreams have been lucid.....
and almost real....
It's story line is based on the concept of two souls connected
over space and time.....
Part mystery, part love story, part tragic, told in different stories lines in different times...
" I will live seven times, and I will look for you and love you in each"...
I love the haunting opening lines...

I fell in love with the leaping hares on the cover!
~ Now they say, "You shouldn't judge
 a book by it's cover"...

Silly of them really as I nearly always do!

Mid winter blood
~ By Marcus Sedgwick..

A jolly good read.

~ I've surrounded my self
in a little spring time dotted, here and there...
Peppermint tea, any one?
Today's one of those days to dust the room with a smile...
And drink tea in a pretty china cup!
A day off.
A day to putter!
A day to just be...
I do this best...

Take time to dream,
lovely blog land...
I read these words only yesterday...
" There are years that ask questions and years that answer!
I wonder which year this one will be?

Love Maria x

~ Let hope it's our biggest and bravest year yet!
( After word )
I've added my other blog below!
We are new little blog to blog land and we would simply love for you to pop in!
Thank you x

  1. Hi Maria - I have just been very naughty and bought Midwinterblood because the opening lines are so haunting. I'll let you know how the read goes. Lily. xxx

  2. Well! I've been embracing January for the last week....
    And..Every time l get soaking wet....If this weather 'don't'
Poor people around the country...Flooded! Terrible!
Good job l live on a mountain...Well! Nearly!
Can't remember the last time my seaweed was dry....! :).

So! I'm sitting here peering through Paddington Bear curtains,
    and, the suns out...
But! I also have a cup of lemon tea...Earl Grey of course..mmmM!
And, a hefty piece of panettoni.......Heaven!
"What can be said in New Year rhymes,
that's not said a thousands times.
The New Years come, the old years go,
we know we dream, we dream we know.
We rise up laughing with the light,
we lie down weeping with the night.
We hug the world until it stings,
we curse it then and sigh for wings.
We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
we wreathe our prides, we sheet our dead.
We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
and, that's the burden of the year".
    (Ella Wheeler Wilcox).

"And the lord said unto Moses....
    Come forth...Come forth....
And, he came fifth....And, lost his
    beer money".
    (Me). :>).

    1. Willie, hello!!....I live in the north west...Wellington boots and wet and windy weather are second nature here.. It nearly always rains.....But I am a thinking of sending out a dove too....Happy new year! Dear Willie...

  3. I'm hoping the year will be a little drier than it has started out! Living on the edge of the Somerset Levels, we are currently surrounding by a sea of floodwater in three directions ... luckily we still have a way out!
I often buy a book just because of its cover ... I think I shall be buying Midwinterblood too ...
    M xx

  4. Dear, dear Maria! HOW ARE YOU? I have missed your posts, for your presentations are always full of tender muses and TEA! And we need all the tea we can get out here in the frozen tundra!

Dear one, did you make that glittery rabbit tag? I LOVE IT SO! I think I need to make one!

I wish you continued success in all that you do, from writing your ideas, to creating an atmosphere in your home, to helping those around you.

Thank you for always inviting us into your home to sit and chat. LOVE TO YOU! Anita

  5. Hello dear Maria,
Well, that is just what i am doing today. I am changing my art around, throwing out magazines and things i really dont need.

catching up with comments and blogs
    Your book sounds interesting.
The weather there in UK is really bad. Its raining here and cold. But not as bad as you are all getting there.
I liked what you wrote " years that ask questions and years that answered...
Last year was a happy and sad year for me.. and I could call it a year that some questions were answered. This year I still have some time to see what answers I will be given.
    Happy Tuesday Maria.
    love and hugs..stay warm

  10. I think your words have cheered up my January Maria! I find this month above all others to be such a long miserable one, but maybe I should keep such a journal and record happy thoughts. As always I love looking at the beautiful things in your home, you have such a lovely flair for homemaking.Best wishes to you for this new year.

  11. I dropped a very big hint about a Roberts's radio this Christmas - but it didn't work!
Lucky you - Happy New Year listening.

  12. I have a gratitude journal and it keeps me centered and so appreciative of the simple things.
I think I would very much enjoy that book too ~ I have to admit even before you went on to tell about it I was also attracted to it's cover.

  13. Such a lovely post from an equally lovely lady.
I adore your home, it's so cosy and filled with
beautiful little treasures. A feast for the eyes.

I'm forever judging books by their covers and this
one does sound like a good read.
I will add it to my list :)

I love the idea of a journal, I don't keep one myself
but to read of happier times and the way we used
    to be sounds heavenly.

Have a beautiful day Maria xx

  14. Oh how I'd love to sit in your pretty kitchen and drink a cup of peppermint tea with you - it looks so beautiful and cosy. A gratitude journal is a lovely idea and good too to page back from time to time and give thanks for many blessings.
Wishing you a year filled with both questions and answers, and much to be grateful for.
    hugs xx
