Elegant Rose

Second Hand Rose....

July...
"Sultry, steaming, sweltering, July...
Slow down.
Or stop.
It's time to shed ambition and expectation,
along with clothing and calendars....
A shady nook, a cold beer, a cool breeze.
Time out for good behaviour.
Summer is not so much a season, but a melody"!
~ Taken from,' Simple Abundance'.
My Bible...

~ Hello lovely blog world..
I must confess I am happy all is well and we are all still here, alive and kicking!
Being a 'worry pant's that I am I did wonder if we would all be lost for a short while, with the loss of blog reader.
So I thought the best thing to do was lay low!
But alas all seems tickety boo!
July .
It's lovely to welcome July, but a little concerning just how fast this year is going...
~
Pretty roses from my little garden forecourt...
~ the smell as sweet as they look!

~ We had a jolly nice trip through to 'Brum', this weekend...
A grand day watching the athletics!
You may have seen them too....
Deans race was a toughie and my heart was in my hand for most of it, I must confess!
( I felt a whole lot better  after the whole thing was over )
Hehe...
We also had some nice time together...
and a good catch up!
( kiss the birdie then!)
'The Arco lounge', restaurant on High street, Harbourne!
a great place to eat and chat....
LOVE the vintage pictures here...

~

And we also helped Dean move home, once again...
I swear my boy has my Mums gypsy blood in him..
My Mum used to feel the distant breeze in the air and declare the time was right for us to move on..
"It time for us to have a change", she used to say...
~ We were always excited!

( I know I have shown this vintage photograph before, but I just love this happy shot)
I think it so sweet that my brother , John- Paul is holding my hand!
This home was one of Mum's longer stays!
I know she was free as a bird here!
And I wonder why I love the movie' Chocolat'.
Vianne Rocher , ( Julliet Binocche 's)  wonderful, character is the best way to describe my Mum...
"so wild and free"...
Always on the move!
A horse and trap may have been more appropriate for us in them 'good all days'....

~ This week is a bit more laid back for me, so I am delving into the pages of another,' Sarah Addison - Allen, 'novel.
Bliss!
I love the way she writes and I find my self dreaming off into another time and another place..
I am a dreamer, I know.

A little like Trinny!
Sweet kittie dreams....
(I have just decided to day in my next life I am coming back as a kittie)
I really am!
~ I am thinking that catching butterflies and snoozing all day sounds like such fun!
( For Willie)

.
~ I will close for now...
~ all the pretty 'bits and bobs'  in this postie are brought home and re-loved from Bumble Bee.....
Please pop in and say hello on our new blog!
Or simply belonged to my Mum or Grandma..
( apart from sweet Trinny of course)
Second hand Rose, that's me!
But I kinda like this...
Thanks as always for listening to my witherings!
~ Take time to dream lovely friends, I am ever so glad we are all safe and sound.
Hugs Maria x

  5. People have often asked me, if l'd fancy
coming back as a cat....! I always say no!
Knowing my luck, l'd be taken straight to
the vet...For 'YOU' know what.....!!! :).
As one lady cat said to another lady cat...
"Have'nt seen old Tom, since his operation"!

Horse and cart...Oh! Mio Nonno had a Carrettino
Sicilano...It was a beauty, as they all are....
Works of art...I think there are some on u-tube!
Well worth a look...Last time l saw him, alive,
was when he was 96. And, still riding round on a donkey.
He died at the very young age of 106. ME! I'm gonna
stick around for my telegram from King William...! HeHe!

I did get a bit confused at the beginning Maria.....
    "Sultry..Steaming..Sweltering...."!!!!
Thought it was the start of a D.H. Lawrence novel....! :>).
    HeHe! What fun....What fun....Bless little Trinny...Wonder
what she's dreaming about....Taking a little 'paws' for thought.
    Lovely....Bless!x

At the weekend...I was reading through some of my college A-Level
    books...Laugh...Laugh...! :)
In one of my psychology books was written.....AND...I must say,
it's not true, but this 'saying' 'quotation' was always referred
    as me...Not True...Not True....HeHe!
"I'm not a control freak, l just happen to be a highly driven,
focused, motivated, extraordinary and inspiring leader, and, yes
you may take time out to listen to my advice, and, no, you may not
do things your way..." (Brilliant...Love it....For some reason). :).

    Lovely....So remember....
"If you always do, what you've always done, you'll always get
    what you always got".
    (Think about it).
    Ciao...Ciao..........! ~(^.^)~

  7. Oh Maria as soon as I read your mom saying it's time for a change I thought of Chocolat and there you are mentioning it in the next paragraph. Such a beautiful book and the wonderful river gypsy Johnny Depp in the movie. Glad your time in Brum was happy and Dean's race went well. Smelling the flowers here today and sewing the faeries while the other half does the chores. Blissful ~ Sarah x

  10. Hello there darling friend! I really love your world here; it makes me want to visit you and chat over tea, to hear your voice, to see your world. What a SUPER SUMMER I AM HAVING, loving every song of the birds in the morning, the song of my water fountain as I can now hear it because we can finally open our French doors out onto the garden; my husband enclosed our patio to protect against the many mosquitos. Oh what bliss.

Enjoy YOUR summer day sweet and beautiful Maria! Anita

  17. Hello Maria

Oh I bet it's a struggle watching Dean run. On one hand you must just want to cheer him on and on the other you must want to watch behind your hands until it's over. You must be so proud of him. My daughter has definitely got a touch of gypsy in her but that's from me, I can't convince my OH to move. Trinny looks so comfy. I often say I would like to come back as a cat. It seems a blissful life. I have my eye on your flowery teapot, very pretty. I bet it makes a good cuppa. Hope you see the sun this week.
