The days have gone by in a whirl wind since my last postings..

I have noticed how quickly the seasons change and this can bring on a little melancholy  for the summer that never really was ......

Hydrangeas at there most beautiful dried and displayed, the colours faded, but beautiful.

I have been reading and enjoying this wonderful book, a gift from a dear friend.

It seems just the perfect time to enjoy the pretty pictures as they reflect the time of year and the seasons changing all around us right now!

It reminds me of a film I love also 'Fairy Tale' a true story.
A proper Sunday afternoon movie, especially with a cup of hot chocolate!

Have you noticed 'spiders webs' already woven in the corners of your windows?
I have.

They don't bother me as I simply fell in love with Charlotte's Web, the book by E. B. White, when I was in my primary school years.
I also read the book to my children, I still have my original copy, a little tatty, but just as adorable.

But again October is usually the month to see spiders spinning busily.

We had a 'Special home coming Gathering' over the weekend with all the usual trimmings!

I am wondering whether these are for vintage girls, but any ways I enjoyed stepping out in them in London...
I swear something happens when you reach your mid forties and you just go with your own flow of fashions... hehe.

I have been asked this week to join my friend to hug some trees and kick some leaves, so I will wear them for this. Such fun!

The Mighty Roar...........

I will start at the beginning as I have so much to tell here....

We have had the most amazing time lovely peeps and I can honestly say, I have never experienced any thing like it before!

London was pretty splendid all round......

I got to ride the carousel horses..

There was the most wonderful atmosphere of people coming together!

We met some wonderful and inspiring people.

Not to mention a few famous ones too!

(I've always wanted to meet Mary Poppins)

We managed a little sight seeing and the weather did us proud, it felt sunny and warm , perfect for wandering and taking in the views!

Olivia had a very special birthday, one I don't think she will forget too soon!

18... my how time flies!

We visited Camden markets and enjoyed some retail therapy!!

On the night of the second full moon of the month (blue moon) we were joined by our families, this is when it hit home, the reason we were really here was to see Dean run for his country!

I was tickled pink when we all met here in Trafalgar square!

Trafalgar square was buzzing with excitement and cheers as families and friends joined together to applaud our fine Paralympians all on the biggest screen!

How awesome was the Olympic Stadium...

I felt so small..

The atmosphere was truly electrifying!

I have been asked on numerous occasions since returning home, how I felt hearing Deans name called out for Great Britain, I can only say that I just heard the mighty roar of the stadium......

It was wonderful, exciting and soo very scary all in one....

An experience akin to nothing experienced before as the crowd were amazing!

(Good job I had my Bachs flower remedies with me as my tummy did a few summer-salts!)

Outside the Olympic Stadium....

I was ever so proud and really haven't come back down to earth yet!

This picture was on the front of our local newspaper back home.

But the best part of all, was when we could join Dean after the race to celebrate with around 50

of us all, some from back home and some from Birmingham, it truly was a celebration!

Olivia captured this quote outside the Olympic village and I feel it says everything!

We had the most wonderful, wonderful time and one I will remember for always!

London 2012 Paralympics has changed the way people perceive disability and we can only go forwards with this....

We are home and all is quiet and calm now, London seems a million miles away and I would love to leave you with this text message, recieved from Dean as our train pulled into our small sleepy northern home town , here in Cumbria....

"Thank you Mum and Dad for everything, I am glad you are home safe.

Sorry I didn't win a medal, but it just isn't my time too, my legs just didn't have it in them on the night, but I know I gave it my all....

Looking forwards to the world championships in Leon next year though and then onto Rio 2016...

A Time For Everything.....

Thank you for all your sweet comments on my last post, I think you could gather that I was trying to quiet my mind from the excitement of  knowing that Dean was flying off to Portugal along with team GB, knowing that the next time we see each other it will be at the Paralympic games starting very soon now!

Well its almost time.....

And we are almost packed!

I can hardly contain myself with pride and excitement!!

My lovely friend Debbie is coming to stay and look after all my moggies, although Smoky Joe, looks a little sad about being left here......

Wednesday evening should be amazing, with the opening ceremony!

I don't know about you ladies, but I have felt flat since the Olympic's ended, so it's exciting to feel that it all begins again!

It's Dean of course, but this is my vintage dog 'Shep', he was a push and ride toy on wheels....

I loved that Mum had kept him safe and sound and he was loved and enjoyed once again by my children....
Before play stations and game boys showed up any way!

Dean flies from Portugal into the games on Tuesday, so he won't know I have put the picture on here! hehe...

Just to let you know Monday 3rd September is the date of Deans race and the time has changed a couple of times, but we believe it to be around 8.50pm ( 1500metres) for T 37 categories.

I do feel channel 4 will do a brilliant coverage of the Paralympics as the presenters are so passionate.
Have you been watching Jon Snow's Paralympic show each evening? It has been an amazing insight into the athletes taking part and what about wheel chair rugby!
How tough is that?

The Swan Feather.....

I have been trying to quiet my mind this week, with extra hours at work and 'the usual family goings on', home has felt busy as always and I have struggled with sleeping........

My Grandma's sewing tin and Bakelite pin box, I used to always play with these, when visiting her.

I am an Aries, by star sign and fluctuate between bursts of excitement and business and moments of quiet contemplation, where I dream and have to have time to be still........

I have been trying to sew and crotchet, but alas I am an enthusiastic starter but a slow finisher.....

I found this cute Mabel Lucie Attwell material in our local market, I am pondering on doing patch work, but find such pleasure in just looking at the pictures.....

Maybe more hours in the days, is what is needed.

Wednesday saw heavy rains here in the Lake District, but  we enjoyed a short journey and lovely bar meal here, Patrick had a athletic meeting and I was happy to read and just 'be' really, rather than 'do'.

We enjoyed a lovely fish and chip supper!!

There is nothing better, when you are in a mindful mood and hungry, all in one.

After the rains, the evening became warm and there was a lovely wood burning smell of Autumn in the air! More a September feeling, rather than a August night.

I watched a small feather float under the bridge and away, the water very high in parts, from all the rains.

I was happy watching the Starlings and the sky was really pretty.

Patrick is just, about getting used to me and my camera now!!

I fell in love with this vintage cupboard and the wall paper was stunning, so I had to take a snap.

All though it looks quiet, it was extremely busy inside, I sat here and noticed how the seasons are changing....

On some of our visits to the Swan Restaurant, I have managed to see the resident pair of beautiful Swan's that live and grace the lake, but not this time, I did find a perfect white feather, which, I see as, Good Luck and always bring home with me.

A Guilty Pleasure.........

Hello there lovely peeps....

How do you feel after the closing ceremony and after two weeks of our splendid Olympic's. I just loved it all, although I must add I spent most days either jumping for joy or weepy with emotion........

Didn't we do so well.....

I don't think you could have wished for more...

Goodness knows how I will be, when we are in that 'Olympic Stadium', I honestly can't say whether I will be able to stay 'Put' or, I may have to do a disappearing act before Deans race...

We have checked on line and the 1500 metres is a sell out event and I can only imagine the noise and atmosphere. I am sure the old British public will get behind the Paralympic's as they have embraced the Olympic's themselves and it will be a proud and wonderful, if not humbling experience!! 

One thing at least until the games begin, I will be able to get on with some jobs, here at home hopefully!

Honestly I have just been going into work and then, I have been glued in front of the TV!!

The closing ceremony had some thing for every body, I believe.

I loved that 'Take That'  were among the celebrities performing as 'Rule the world' just happens to be my favourite song and is also taken from my favourite movie 'Stardust'.....

I guess, I am always perhaps looking for my own Babylon candle to transport me to another time and enchanting place....

Especially when I have house work to do, anyway... hehe....

I had a little spend at work, last week and treated my self to this 'Rosy, Posy' jug, well you can't have to many of these, can you now!

I sneaked it in of course!

I do have a thing for vases with old fashioned flowers on.....

,

I have just decided this week that in my next life I am coming back as a moggie, 

 as all mine seem to do all day is sleep and eat (great life for some)

I had better be swiftly moving on now, do you ever feel a guilty pleasure, when you blog ladies, I do sometimes........

Husbando very often emails me from his very important job, building nuclear submarines, I may add and jokes me up with words such as " are you still blogging, get some cleaning done" haha...

He's having a laugh of course and my return answer is always the same,"My idea of house work is to sweep the room with a smile"......

Well the games opening ceremony begins on the 29th of August and runs till the 9th of September.

I can't wait!

Channel four is the hosting channel for the games!

I will be talking more in my next post of details for Dean!

Have Tea with me, the Gossips free......

The sun was well and truly shining on my weekend.......

I am happy to say we made the most of it too!

As a Garden Tea Party was the order of the day on Sunday.

It was lovely to wear my long dress, that had been hanging lazily in the closet, just waiting really for summer to arrive!

The tables were laid up beautifully awaiting the guests to arrive.
It was wonderful to enjoy the warm sunshine...

Did I mention there was a buffet lunch and Cup cakes of course...

Lots of cupcakes!

And Pimms Cocktails.

It is the first sunny day we seemed to have enjoyed out doors...

I must add though, that we had drama in the skies earlier in the morning with thunder and hailstones and even flooding, such crazy, crazy British weather.

But the sun came out again and all was well!

All the ladies were treated to Orchid Corsages....

So special!

We had such as special day together.

The lady in question, who the celebrations were for, was celebrating her 92nd birthday, wow!

My dear brother in laws Mum.

And she enjoyed every moment of her special day....

It is hard not to mention our Olympic's as we have been enjoying them so much.

Saturday 's gold medals were just amazing!

I have felt so proud of our incredible athletes.....

Although I am a vintage girl at heart, I do live with a house full of athletes, as I mentioned in earlier posts..

I understand the years of commitment and dedication  involved to reach this standard of even taking part in the games, let alone attaining a medal of any kind!

Soo well done team GB.

I'm loving watching you all.
