Isn't It Supposed To Be March of Many Weathers?

WOW, I haven't needed my rosey tinted specs on at all this week, it's been just lovely.
On Wednesday evening I was treated to a lovely bar meal by my man... We drove to the Swan hotel at Newby Bridge and enjoyed home-made fish and chips with a glass of Chardonnay.

The Lake District is always lovely, but even more so this time of year.

Patrick had an Athletic coaches meeting, so there was method in his madness!

I was happy to take in the views and catch up a little with this fab book. If you haven't read it, it's worth picking up! (Very inspiring!)

On Saturday, my Olivia and I went to Lancaster on a lovely train journey. Olivia wanted to check out the charity shops and vintage market there. Lancaster is a lovely city full of colour, we came across some interesting folks indeed. (Can't say no more!)

If you are a Vintage girl at heart, it's worth having a look!
To end a lovely weekend, we had a long walk to see these again!

I just wanted to bring them home!

I hope you do what makes your heart smile this weekend too...

A Mother Is All The Wonderful Things You Never Grow Out Of

Well the sun did us proud on Mothering Sunday and so did my little lot, a lovely day was spent not doing, just being...

I had breakfast in bed and a late morning start with a lovely brisk walk afterwards to the fields near by to see the new baby lambs cuddling into their mothers. (aww) I love Spring time with new life all around!
I was thinking of and remembering my lovely Mum most of the day, her Camilia is flowering beautiful this year.
God bless. x
On Saturday I was ever so busy doing personalised plaques for the young folks, who came into the shop where I work, for their Mothers. There was a definite buzz around the town with St.Patrick's day parades and all... We celebrated with my lovely sister and family in the evening for her Birthday.
My favourite quote of the day relating to Mother's day, has to be this:
"Mum's like hugs and kisses and help with the dishes."
haha soo true, hope your day was special too. x

A Trip to Brum

Been a busy bee this weekend just gone!  I've had a trip to visit my first born who lives and works in Birmingham. Dean graduated there last year and now works part time on the campus at the university. I haven't seen him since Christmas, so lots of catching up to do...
An early start was called for as we live in a sleepy town near the gateway to the lake district, about a 4 hour journey was ahead of us.
Dean runs and trains with UK Athletics in Birmingham and we are a-hoping and a-praying he will be selected to run in the Para Olympics in August-September. (We have tickets already!) Yep, I am a very proud Mum! Our trip was to catch up with him and his training but I managed to do some of this...

and even a little of this...

Some good retail therapy!
Great weather was enjoyed and Spring had certainly sprung in the Midlands too. We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed that we will get to go to the capital to cheer Dean on later this year. Enough trumpet blowing! I hope your weekend was kind to you x

Feline Friends

"I'll tell you in  another life, when we are both cats"
-Vanilla sky
I'd like to be a cat in my next life also, especially if I had a life like my four do. Sleeping all day and just about managing to wake and check out their food bowl.

I love the way they jump on my windowsills, very often knocking off ornaments or even missing completely, just to get back up again. We should take a leaf out of their book.

Today I'm wearing my rosy tinted spectacles all day, I'm chilling and relaxing, much like these really but only for the day!

Happy Sunday!

Sophie Dahl Days...

Did I mention that I'm not the best cook when it comes to puddings? I can put together savoury meals but unlike a lot of you blogging ladies I struggle with baking. Sometimes I feel like Wendy Craig from Butterflies (sitcom from the 70's) when it comes to meal times.

I seem to dream off all day; busy puttering in my home. I can almost lose the day. Luckily, my family are always happy to receive my offerings, much like on butterflies... I do however love Miss Sophie Dahl's cook-books. I watch 'The Delicious Miss Dahl' over and over again, not so much for the cooking but for the scene setting, poetry and fab kitchen.

What recipes do you prepare with love for your families?

'My Dad's Chicken Curry' from 'Miss Dahl's Voluptuous Delights' is a favourite in our house...
