Thank you very much..

~Hello.
I'm posting a little earlier with my St Patrick's day Greetings!
~ and pondering  will YOU be wearing of the green this Sunday?

GREEN.....
~Will bring you luck on Sunday and with out it you will be pinched (so tradition says)
Which incidentally sounds very unpleasant!
Traditional dishes to try on this day will be Corn beef ash made with bacon.
Cabbage stew and sweet Irish soda bread...
Ooh may give those a miss!

~ We have a family get together as my sister Donna's birthday is on the day it's self!
We have always called her a Paddy born baby...

~ I always look for a Lucky shamrock as part of my gift .
Its part of our traditional...
~ On Sunday we will be drinking Baileys and pints of Guinness for the men folks..
~And settling down in our local for tales of Leprechauns and magic!
~And like the Irish who have the 'gift of the gab'......there will be lots of celebrating!!~

 Lucky shamrocks!
~ My gift...One for Donna and one for me...
"As sure as there are Leprechauns to make a wish come true....Tis nothing but the happiest of days I'm wishing YOU".....

With a tiny Easter bunny... hopping in for the photograph!

~' May the blessings of, St Patrick be with you'.......

Although I looked high and low to find a Leprechaun!....to no avail...
I did stumble on a  jolly, PIXIE...
Who ever so kindly came home with me and very politely said he would join us all for the celebrations on Saturday AND Sunday!!

(courtesy of Google)
Thank you very much...

~What ever you do this coming weekend...
Whether it be to hang a pretty garland or wear a piece of lucky shamrock
~
Have a jolly time!
Thank you ever so much for taking time to visit me...YOUR lovely words make my day!
With the kindest thoughts..
~And tootle pip!

Cherry Pie And Mothers love.....

~ "A Mother is someone who seeing there are only four pieces of cherry pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for cherry pie any way."....... Tenneva Jordon.

Happy belated Mothers Day to YOU all.
I do hope you spent it with those you love....
The quote above I wrote on a plaque this week, for a little person to give to their dear Mum......It made my heart smile!

I spent my weekend in Birmingham, ( Brum) visiting Deano , which was lovely!
I haven't seen him since Christmas and knew he had spent all of January and part of February in Nairobi in Kenya doing the thing which he loves the very most.....Running!
I call his running fuel for his soul....
~ Each year a group of athletes are asked to train at high altitudes in the warm weather climates to assist their training schedules........and  Dean was one of only two from the Paralympic team selected.
It has been a fabulous opportunity yet again for him...
Although he was poorly with dehydration on the long flight home (nine hours in the air)
~ He is now  fit as a fiddle as the saying goes...
And his training went wonderfully well, with very few niggles!
It was great to catch up and hear all! hehe..
~ .

~ This is a very special picture of Dean having a spot of lunch  and joking with a tooth pick.......
Taken in Kenya.
I wonder if you can guess who the  very famous athlete is here in the picture ?
I will tell all at the bottom of my post! hehe...

~ Mothers day isn't the same for every one, I know....
And for most of us it  will be spent remembering our very special Mums, who are no longer with us..

Thank You Mum for showing me many things in my life....
To be patient, as some things are always worth waiting for....
To be kind and to try to tread gently on this earth...
And most of all Thank You Mum for teaching  me how to LOVE....
I WISH you're special place in heaven to be full to the brim of kittie cats and waifs and stays all needing to be cuddled and nursed and shown a little love and tenderness.
~
And of course my Dad.

God bless you both.

~ As I type and send out this post very dear to me....The snow is falling ever so gently.

My washing on the line is frozen and almost like cardboard....
I guess winter still has us all in her clutches for a wee while yet.....
I will be hanging those flowery frocks back in the closet once more...

( My lovely cards)
I do hope your Mothers day was special too! Wishing you a week full of happy times! .
I am off to pop on the kettle and catch up with you all on here!
~ Take time to dream...
Love Maria x
Oops forgot to add the athlete in question is Mo Farah of course!
Keep cosy and bye for now...

~ A Moment With Audrey...

March arrives, the last hurrah of winter and the first whisper of spring. Slowly our spirits reawaken, along with the natural world,  from a long winter's slumber.....
~ Simple abundance.

~ Hurrah hooray! Then let spring begin..
..
I have such a fondness for this enchanting advertisement that's gracing our screens at the moment!
I wonder have you seen Audrey singing so beautiful 'Moon River'?....
~ It made my heart skip so....

'Tis a little strange but true, I was thinking of adding this song version to my music box only recently.
The song is taken from the movie, 'Breakfast At Tiffany's', starring the handsome George Peppard.....
Isn't it delightful!
Ooh I wish all adverts could be like this...

~ I have a weakness for Galaxy too!

I had an Audrey moment with this little vintage frock..
~ So, dusting off the cobwebs of winter , it came out of the closet to play once more, this week...
Well it has been so'spring like'!

(Vintage floral dress ebay find £10)

~ My words, precisely!

Today.
~ Sipping my morning cuppa from the prettiest china teacup...... I pondered on my horoscope for this week....
~
It read...
"Be careful of seeing things from the past through Rose Tinted spectacles".....
Tee Hee, this made me smile..
Is there any over way to see things!

Daisy Mae,came to live with me recently.
(My mother's day gift)

She's a dash of 'springtime' , all right!
In her vintage petty coat, with the prettiest daises ever...
~ she also wears the cutest pantaloons in a pretty lilac shade.
In her tiny ears are the sweetest pearl earrings....
She seems to have made her self right at home, here.

She was created  by the lovely Helen Mckenna...
A local lady.
(Helen has a website)
www.helenmckenna sews.co.uk.
She's a vintage girl, through and through!

Pedro and Trinny catching a few rays of sunshine.....
"Ooh don't be fooled by US...We are like an old married couple."
We play together, lay together, then fall out and make up and do it all again....
'Such is life'.

(Notice also our handy work on the wall paper here! )

~ I will close for now, but I wonder what has filled your hearts with glee this last week?
The snow drops, the crocus', the beautiful bird song, all spring times promise's of her beauty to follow.....
Take time to dream.
I am off to buy that galaxy!

The Thorn Birds.....

~ There's a story.....a legend, about a bird that sings just once in its life....from the moment it leaves the nest, it searches for a thorn tree....and never rests until it has found the perfect tree......It then sings more sweeter than any other bird on the earth. On singing it impales itself on the longest sharpest thorn until death....The Thorn bird pays with it's life for just one song, but the whole world stills to listen..... - Taken from the Thorn Birds....

I wonder do you recall this mini series filmed in the early eighties?
The Thorn Birds.
~ It's the story of a priest torn between his calling of the church and the lure of the purest kind, a beautiful young ranchers daughter named Meggie.
I loved every thing about this series and the story set in the Australian out back...set between 1920 - 1962.

I remember I fell for Father Ralph de Briccasart too...
This scene is my  most favourite, when Ralph  realises, his love for Meggie, is different to any he has ever felt before.......

~ The beautiful music takes me back...
I remember we were glued to our screens ! ~ Well the girls in the house any way!

The cast was pretty splendid too, with Richard Chamberlain and Jean Simmons and Barbara Stan wick ( Both ladies being my dear Dads favourite actress's)
Today I treated my self to the whole series on DVD...
Ooh and the book by Colleen Mccullough.
I know I will cry and have to watch by myself! hehe...
But I am an old romantic at heart....

~ Spring has most certainly sprung here!
I am keeping my fingers AND toes crossed  that we are past the worst!
Today is bright and chilly, but so spring like.
Even my kittie cats seem to have come out of hibernation....
~ and at least venture out for a short while now....

~ I have been puttering and a pottering ( I do this better than any thing.....)
And put together this basket of vintage crockery, beautiful  African Violets....Herbal teas and a few pretty cloths...A gift for a dear friend who has just found her Wings......And learnt how to fly again.....! After leaving a bad relationship!

"Believe in your self and all that you are!"
Words that speak to YOU, if you only listen......

~ I have been having a browse through this lovely cook book....

~ Gwyneth Paltrow's cookery  book is lovely with lots of ideas on vegetarian meals and simple family lunches using lots of herbs and various cheeses, olives and of course my favourite sun blushed tomatoes....
I always prefer cook books that are less about cooking and more about lifestyle.....
Gwyneth tells a story while she prepares food lovingly.... and I guess I like this more than the actual recipes!
It is priced at £2.99 in WHSmith at the moment, so really reasonable too!

It has been Patrick's birthday this last week so we have been eating lots of cake and making merry!!
Cats and all...
********
~ Happy Monday to YOU all!
"I am off to make some 'Hay While The Sun is Shining."
Leaving You with 'Twinkles' ******
Love Maria x
Oops Thanks for being just the nicest peeps on here! ~ And I do hope you remembered 'The Thorn Birds too!
Or were you watching 'Fame' around this time? Oh I loved that too!
~ another post, me thinks!
